Cindy Jackson

Cindy Jackson is playing in the arts. She tends to do a deep dive into a subject that interests her and uses it to learn a new medium or technique. Her artwork encompasses oil paintings, acrylic paintings, digital painting, photography, furniture making and embroidery. She embraces the surreal and absurd nature of life and her artwork reflects her feelings about life at the time of creation.

Jackson has been honored with multiple Congressional Recognition Awards and commendations from local and international institutions for her contributions to the arts and community wellness in Nevada. Jackson is a Nevada Arts Council Teaching Artist and available to teach several workshops that she has developed to address mental health and the arts.

Several of her pieces have been purchased for the permanent collection of the City of Las Vegas and some are on display at the East Las Vegas Community Center.

In addition to creating her own artwork Jackson is also the cofounder of Artful Lives, a 501c3 non profit that provides free and low cost art classes to the community. She is also a therapist and continues to run her own private practice. She is married to Thomas Gilbert, professional gambler and has a son, a dog and a cat who all keep her amused with their quirky ways.

When not working on artwork or the non profit or her private practice, her favorite thing to do is find new hot springs, be out in nature or on a plane to visit somewhere cheap where there’s a beach.
